Passive Discovery Tool Description
This tool passively listens to IPv4 traffic on your network
and provides a list of active IPv4 devices on your subnet.
The subnet
starting IP and subnet mask are user definable. This tool shows
the last time a packet was received, the protocol of that last packet
and the source/destination ports (if applicable). It also shows
the tool session count of IP packets received which can be used
to identify systems that talk too much due to a virus or trojan
malware program.
Results are tabulated in a SQLite database and may
be optionally saved for future reference.
Note that this tool requires the use of
WinPcap. We
install WinPcap as part of the installation package. WinPcap is designed for wired ethernet
cards, not modems and it usually works with wireless 802.11x interfaces.
