Windows Vista. 10.55 brings additional support for Windows Vista to the changes first introduced in v10.42. The tools now work fine under Vista. As of 10.55 the remaining issues are moving all saved settings away from the registry and completing the conversion of the software from VC++6 to VC++8 (2005). We have implemented workarounds in it to provide basic functionality.

NetScanTools Pro 10 does not run on Windows Windows NT4 SP6a, ME, and 98. We have not tested the program on those operating systems and we will not provide technical support for installations of the program on those unsupported operating systems.

Video Display Resolution (minimum)
We recommend 1024x768.

Network Connection
NetScanTools Pro requires a TCP/IP network connection with access to a DNS. We recommend a wired connection such as ethernet. Many parts of the program will run through a wireless connection, however the portions of the program heavily dependent on WinPcap may not run properly through the wireless interface or a modem connection especially if the tool is sending packets through the interface. For best results, do not use it behind a firewall unless you can configure the firewall to pass the packet types we use (ICMP, TCP/UDP, ARP). Personal firewalls and some antivirus scanners that check incoming and outgoing email will cause false positive reporting when using port scanner due to the way they operate. We use the WinPcap packet driver for some features. WinPcap goes around many personal firewalls including the Windows XPsp2 firewall and allows us to talk directly with network interface. Installation of the WinPcap driver is required.

Computer Speed (minimum)
We would recommend at least a 500Mhz machine.

NetScanTools Pro requires 32 Mbytes of disk space.

Mandatory Registration
